Edging

These are the same style of product with the exact same specifications, except for two small differences. They use a slightly different patented slide connection, which means EZ Edge and YardEdge pieces cannot connect to each other. They are also painted at different production plants so the coloring may be slightly different between the two types.

Steel is better suited for heavy commercial applications. It is very heavy, will rust over time, and has a sharp edge. Our aluminum edging is designed for both residential and commercial use. It is lightweight, flexible, and durable, features a rounded top so it is safe to step on, will not corrode, and is ideal for both professionals and do-it-yourselfers.

We do not have retail distributors, but we ship directly to your door for free on all full boxes of aluminum edging and paver restraints. No need to leave home.

No. The aluminum edging is not sharp. It has a rounded top edge so people can step on it without any risk. No need to worry about kids or pets.

No. The aluminum edging will not rust or corrode. It is 100% rust-free and holds up in all weather conditions including rain, snow, and salt environments.

No. The color of your edging will not fade over time. Our painted finishes and anodized products are built to maintain their appearance for years.

Yes. The aluminum edging is painted with a durable finish that is manufactured and tested to withstand weedwacking. It will last for years even with regular use of string trimmers along the edge.

We offer four painted colors: Bronze, Black, Brown, and Green. We also offer Black Anodized (our premium finish) and Mill Finish (a natural silver aluminum look).

We recommend the 3/16" edging for driveways. It is thick enough that you can drive a vehicle over the top without causing damage.

1/8" is recommended for residential gardens, walking paths, and tree rings.

3/16" is recommended for high-traffic areas such as driveways, restaurants, and commercial applications where vehicles or heavy foot traffic may pass over the edging.

The edging is available in six finishes:

  • Green Paint
  • Brown Paint
  • Black Paint
  • Bronze Paint
  • Black Anodized — our premium electrostatically treated finish
  • Mill Finish — natural silver aluminum look

Black anodized edging goes through an additional manufacturing process where the black color is electrostatically etched into the aluminum itself — not just painted on the surface. This makes it our most durable and premium finish, with superior color depth and longevity.

Cut from the bottom up using a hacksaw so that if you slip, you won't scratch the visible top surface. A skill saw fitted with a metal-cutting blade also works very well for clean, straight cuts.

The standard stake is 12 inches in length and is made from reinforced aluminum. We also offer 18-inch stakes available at an additional cost for deeper installation needs.

Yes. Stakes are included with all edging boxes.

The stakes slide through stake pockets that are pre-punched into the side of the edging strip. Once slid through the pockets, the stakes are hammered straight down into the ground to secure the edging in place.

Four end stake adapters are included — available only with the 120 ft PRO edging box.

Wherever you begin or terminate a run of edging, you slide one of the four included end stake adapters onto the edging piece. A stake then slides through the end stake adapter and is hammered into the ground, securely anchoring the start or end of your edging run.

No. We only sell full boxes of edging. The good news is that free shipping is included on all full boxes, so you always get the best value.

Yes. We have a full installation guide available. View the installation guide →

Yes. The edging is sturdy yet flexible. It bends easily to create smooth curves, follow garden paths, or outline irregular shapes — but once installed and backfilled with soil, it holds its form firmly for years.

Many contractors use a 4x4 piece of wood as a form — bend the aluminum strip tightly around the corner of the wood to create and hold the 90 degree angle, then backfill the trench with soil to lock it permanently in place.

Use an end stake adapter (included with 120 ft PRO boxes). Slide the adapter onto the end of the edging piece, insert a stake through it, and hammer the stake into the ground. This firmly anchors the start or end of your run so it cannot pull out or shift over time.
